Working cocoa from beans bought from planters around the world, François Pralus dreamed of owning his own plantation. There, he created his own cocoa plantation from a primary forest as well as a packaging manufacturing workshop. “Since then, around 20 people have been working on the plantation. They first partially cleared the forest to create a nursery. Then they planted 25,000 trees of a cocoa quality based on a variety of Criollo, in the shade of the tall trees. The plantation covers 17 hectares.
These two pieces of land are connected by a pristine sandbank of about 2km. At low tide you can enjoy this incredible place but be careful not to be surprised when the tide rises! Let yourself be lulled by the beauty of the landscapes, the turquoise water surrounding the lagoon lets the sunlight reflect and the sea sparkle. Due to its geographical location in the north of Madagascar at the exit of the Mozambique Channel, the island of NOSY BE is a remarkable diving destination. Tropical fauna is particularly abundant and the corals are magnificent. The southern winter (April to November) is the ideal season to explore the seabed. This is the season when whale sharks come in large numbers to the calm, food-rich waters of nOSY BE. They are accompanied by Manta rays which are attracted by the plankton on certain known and very accessible sites. In order not to be jealous in terms of large marine animals, the humpback whale also spends a nesting period close to NOSY BE.
Madagascar is one of the international hotspots for sport fishing. Indeed, the big island has among the most fish-bearing waters on the planet where you can fish in particular areas such as: tuna, bonito, Wahoo, barracuda, black marlin, sea bream or even swordfish- sailing ship. There are three large areas to the northwest where you can go big game fishing.
Being reputed to be the most beautiful beach on the island, thanks to its 2km of fine sand, ANDILANA is the best place to bask in the shade of a coconut palm. One of the most visited places in NOSY BE, Mont PASSOT rises to 329 m and offers a 360 ° point of view thanks to its large panoramic terrace. This exceptional site is recognized for its breathtaking beauty and exceptional biodiversity. Surrounded by eight small crater lakes (considered sacred), they are home to unique freshwater fish. This natural belvedere will allow lovers of sumptuous landscapes to have a breathtaking view of the Mozambique Channel and thus return with memories of unforgettable beauty.
LOKOBE is the last protected primary forest of NOSY BE. It is home to many varieties of endemic medicinal plants and ancient trees, to the delight of scientists in the region. Let yourself be guided inside these lands, a preserved universe where many lemurs (Macao and Lepilemur), reptiles, chameleons, insects and tropical birds live there. The 740 hectares of this reserve are full of most of the endemic vegetation of NOSY BE. You can also stop in the hamlet of AMPASIOPHY where a few bungalows and other accommodation sites are available to visitors. However, we still recommend that you make your visits accompanied by a guide.
NOSY KOMBA which means "lemur island" is the second main island of the NOSY BE archipelago. It is also known to be home to many lemurs considered sacred by the inhabitants of the island. Come and discover the grandiose landscapes that shape it as well as the many activities and water sports that can be done there.
NOSY TANIKELY, "the island of small land" or NOSY TANIKELY has acquired the status of Marine and Coastal Protected Area for several years. The management of the park is entrusted to the "TANIKELY National Park" association made up of three institutional entities including Madagascar National Park. Despite its small size, NOSY TANIKELY is recognized for its remarkable marine and terrestrial biodiversity. Scientific studies attest that the site is one of the most important in Madagascar at sea level and the park is visited each year by vacationing tombs.
